Bobby Deol reveals Dharmendra was unsure about his role in Animal; later told him, ‘Log toh tere deewane ho gaye hain’

Bobby Deol recently reflected on the massive success of Animal and how the film completely changed the perception surrounding his career. Speaking to Shekhar Suman on his chat show, the actor opened up about his comeback journey, his struggles, and his emotional bond with father Dharmendra.During the conversation, Bobby revealed that Dharmendra was initially unsure about the impact his role in Animal would have.“Papa would ask me, ‘Tu villain hai? Tera role kitna hai?’” Bobby recalled with a smile.However, after the release of the film and the overwhelming response it received online and in theatres, Dharmendra became extremely proud of his son’s success.“Jab unhone dekha ki logon ka itna pyaar mil raha hai, toh woh bahut khush the,” Bobby shared.The actor further recalled how Dharmendra, who enjoys scrolling through Instagram and reading fan reactions, reacted after witnessing the craze around his performance.“Papa ne mujhse kaha, ‘Log toh tere deewane ho gaye hain.’ I am so happy he saw that phase in my life” Bobby said.

‘My parents were very happy after Animal’

Bobby admitted that seeing his parents happy after years of struggle was one of the most emotional moments of his comeback journey.The actor said the love he received after Animal felt special because it came after a long period of self-doubt and career setbacks.

Reflecting on his father, Bobby became emotional and said, “Mere liye mere papa ek aise insaan the jinhe poori duniya itna pyaar karti thi. Papa special the. Unke jaisa koi ban bhi nahi sakta.”

Sandeep Reddy Vanga cast Bobby after seeing a photograph

Bobby also credited director Sandeep Reddy Vanga for giving him the opportunity in Animal.According to the actor, Vanga cast him after seeing one of his photographs from the Celebrity Cricket League.“He told me he liked my expression in that photograph and wanted me because of it,” Bobby revealed.The actor further shared that he had never expected such a strong response for his role in the film.Towards the end of the conversation, Bobby reflected on how differently he now approaches success after experiencing failures and comebacks throughout his journey.“Ek baat hai dimag me... chala bhi gaya thodi der ke liye... koi baat nahi... wapas aayega kyuki mai give up nahi karta,” he concluded.
