Body of missing man found in Vaishali river

Patna: A person missing for over three weeks was found murdered in a river near Dagru village under Mahua police station area in Vaishali district on Tuesday afternoon, police said.The body of Munna Kumar (30), also known as Murlidhar, a resident of Gauspur Chakmujahid, was recovered packed inside a sack, with his face badly crushed, indicating a brutal killing.Locals noticed a leg sticking out of the sack in the river and informed the police. Mahua SHO Rajesh Ranjan said Munna had been missing since Nov 22.The SHO said Munna had no criminal record, though his house was earlier raided by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Police are probing whether the raid has any connection with the murder.The body was sent to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for postmortem. Family members identified the body on Wednesday and later took it for last rites.Police said Munna was living with his brother, as both their parents are no more. An FIR will be lodged in the case, and investigations are on to trace his movements before he went missing.“This is clearly a case of murder. The condition of the body suggests it was a planned act,” police said.
