Body of missing student found in Puthenthope

One of the two Plus One students who went missing while swimming in the sea off Puthenthope beach was found dead on Monday.

The body, identified as that of Abhijith, a native of Kaniyapuram, was found tangled in a fishing net in the sea near Puthenthope, the Kadinamkulam police said.

The incident occurred around 5.30 p.m. on Sunday, when three students from Kaniyapuram reportedly entered the water for a swim. While one student was rescued, Abhijith and another student named Nabeel went missing. The coastal police immediately launched a search operation.

While Abhijith’s body has been hifted to a nearby hospital, the search is still ongoing to locate Nabeel.
