Body of teen girl found on railway tracks in Palamu, police begin probe

Daltonganj: Police and railway authorities on Thursday began an investigation into the death of an 18-year-old girl, whose body was found on the railway tracks near Japla railway station a day earlier.The deceased was identified as Babita Kumari, an intermediate science student from Sonepurwa village. Her admit card issued by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) was found near the body.Hussainabad police station officer-in charge Chandan Kumar said that the body bore head injuries and there was a bleeding wound at the back of the head and deep bruises found on the face.The deceased, Babita Kumari, was a student of intermediate science and a resident of Sonepurwa village. She was identified using her admit card issued by the Jharkhand Academic Council. Hussainabad police station officer-in charge Chandan Kumar said that the body bore head injuries and there was a bleeding wound at the back of the head and deep bruises on the face.However, it was not clear whether the girl died after being hit by a train. “No engine crew informed the station superintendent about anybody on or near the tracks,” the official said.
