J. Ramudu, lecturer in Botany at Dr. Lakkireddy Hanimireddy Government Degree College, Mylavaram, in NTR district, has been conferred with the “Best Individual Biodiversity Conservator Award-2026” by the Andhra Pradesh Biodiversity Board.
In a statement issued on Friday, college Principal Illa Ravi said the award was presented by Andhra Pradesh Biodiversity Board Chairman N. Vijay Kumar and Executive Director of Forests and Environment Nandini Salaria during the International Day for Biological Diversity celebrations organised by the State government at Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur.
The Principal said Mr. Ramudu had been actively creating awareness on biodiversity conservation through seminars, workshops and lectures. His initiatives helped students and the public understand the importance of protecting biodiversity, he added.
Mr. Ramudu is currently working on a research project on the present status of plant species belonging to the Orchidaceae family in the Eastern Ghats of Andhra Pradesh and methods for their conservation.
