BHOPAL: TT Nagar police on Wednesday claimed to have solved the blind murder reported in Panchsheel Nagar within 24 hours.The victim’s boyfriend was arrested and confessed to the crime.
Based on his disclosure, the knife used in the killing was also recovered. After the arrest, the accused was produced before the court and sent to jail.According to police, the 19-year-old girl was found dead in her room around 7.30am on Tuesday, with her throat slit. To mislead investigators, the accused had also placed a shaving blade at the spot. A case was registered, the body was sent for post-mortem and later handed over to the family.Given the seriousness of the crime, DCP (Zone-1) Shashank formed a special team under TT Nagar SHO Gaurav Singh to trace the accused. Police questioned about a dozen suspects before arresting 20-year-old Mubeen Khan. During interrogation, he admitted to slitting the girl’s throat with a knife, which was later recovered at his instance.Engagement triggered the murderTT Nagar SHO Gaurav Singh said preliminary investigation revealed that Mubeen lived in the same neighbourhood as the deceased.
He worked as a tailor and befriended the girl about six to seven months ago. The two soon developed a romantic relationship.However, two months ago her family arranged her engagement with a man from Koh-e-Fiza, with the wedding scheduled for October. Upset over this, Mubeen pressured her to break off the engagement. But the girl refused, saying she would marry according to her family’s wishes.On Monday night, Mubeen entered her house with a knife through a neighbour’s terrace. As he had visited her room earlier as well, the girl was unaware of his intentions. Around 3am, he slit her throat and killed her before fleeing through the back door.
