After welcoming her daughter Golden Raye Mahomes earlier this year, Brittany Mahomes is offering a candid look at what helped her through the early postpartum weeks. On the WHOOP Podcast, the former soccer player and wife of NFL star Patrick Mahomes talked about her sleep struggles, fitness comeback, and how she’s learning to listen to her body while raising three kids.

Small sleep upgrades made a big difference

One of the biggest lessons she shared? The value of sleep—and how little changes helped her get it. “Sleep is very important in my life, and I make it very important that I need to get my sleep. I make it a priority,” Brittany said. “But you know what saved me is a pregnancy pillow. One that wraps all the way around your body.”She also swapped out her old mattress during this pregnancy. “I did get a new mattress too this go around because when I was sleeping, I was sleeping very, very good for sure.”

Fitness, food, and adjusting post-pregnancy

After giving birth, Brittany says her appetite came back stronger than ever. “The second I'm not pregnant, I mean I eat constantly, and I have my appetite back, everything tastes good, and I'm just constantly eating, with breastfeeding,” she said. “It’s like I am feeding a child, so I have to get enough nutrients and stuff that I need for myself and for her.”She’s also returned to light workouts, carefully easing back into strength training with a focus on core and pelvic floor recovery.

Her approach to food has stayed consistent—home-cooked meals, balanced nutrition, and staying hydrated—all part of the routine she’s used through multiple pregnancies.

Keeping a competitive edge—even in labor

True to her athletic mindset, Brittany admitted she brings a competitive spirit even to childbirth. She mentioned tracking her labor progress across pregnancies, trying to improve her “push time” each time. The same mindset helps her keep perspective when things get overwhelming—whether it's missing a workout or juggling two toddlers and a newborn.
