Broken idols being brought to spread lies: Adityanath on Manikarnika Ghat row

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said images of old and damaged idols were being posted on social media to deliberately sow confusion and chaos amid the redevelopment of the Manikarnika Ghat in Varanasi. During a media briefing, Adityanath said similar conspiracies were carried out during the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor project and accused the Congress of spreading "false propaganda".

"There are some people who try to defame Kashi... Broken idols are being brought and posted on social media to spread confusion. It is being claimed that idols are being demolished. There cannot be a bigger lie than this," the firebrand BJP leader said.
