HYDERABAD
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao criticised the Congress government for its betrayal of farmers and other sections. The government has deceived every section of the society by failing to fulfil the promises made to them before the 2023 Assembly elections.
The BRS would raise all the issues vehemently during the budget session and expose the Congress’s betrayal of Telangana. Speaking after paying tributes to the Telangana martyrs along with other legislators of the party at the Martyrs Memorial in Gun Park in front of the Assembly buildings before commencement of the budget session on Monday, he alleged that the government was planning to allocate ₹1,000 crore to Rahul Gandhi while neglecting farmers.

After paying tributes to the martyrs, the BRS legislators staged a protest and raised slogans against the Congress government by holding placards. They demanded immediate implementation of the promises made by the Congress, particularly the six guarantees and wanted backing of a legislation for the implementation of guarantees as vowed by the ruling party in the first session of the Assembly after it took over.
Speaking to the media later, Mr Rama Rao said that it has been a long-standing tradition for BRS legislators to pay respects to the martyrs whose sacrifices made the formation of Telangana possible before attending Assembly sessions. He said that the entire BRS Legislature Party, including MLAs and MLCs, paid homage to the martyrs and student martyrs at the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial before heading to the Assembly for the budget session.

Mr. Rama Rao reminded the ruling party that it had promised to implement the six guarantees within 100 days of coming to power and had even declared that legal status would be granted to the guarantees in the very first Cabinet meeting after assuming office.
However, the government had failed to keep the word even after two years.
Criticising the government for failing to implement key welfare schemes for farmers, he said Rythu Bandhu funds used to be credited to farmers before the sowing season during the BRS government.
