Bus conductor held for assaulting passenger

Kochi: Palarivattom police arrested a private bus conductor for allegedly assaulting a passenger following a dispute over timings at Chakkaraparambu bus stop.The accused, Sreekumar K, 34, of Alappuzha, has been remanded in judicial custody.The incident occurred on Tuesday, when a private bus named ‘Sultan’ blocked another bus, ‘ENPEES’. When the Sultan bus driver began assaulting the ENPEES conductor, a passenger from Edakochi intervened to question the violence. Irked by this, the driver instructed Sreekumar to attack the passenger.A police team apprehended Sreekumar shortly after the altercation, however the bus driver fled the scene. A search is on for the absconding driver, and further investigation is under way.
