A cameraman, hired to film the counting of cash and valuables offered by the devotees at historic Channakeshava Temple in Belur, was caught after he allegedly stole ₹1.98 lakh in cash.
The temple administration had hired Neelakantha, a resident of Belur town, to film the counting process. As the temple is managed by the Muzrai Department, the government officials were monitoring the counting of the collections. A couple of the officers noticed the accused concealing cash in his pockets.
The staff stopped him as he was leaving the place around 11.30 a.m. and handed him over to the police. Based on a complaint filed by K.N. Yogesh, executive officer of the temple, the police registered a case.
