​Campaign to fit stray dogs with radium collars in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A public campaign has started in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to fit radium collars to the necks of stray dogs.Led by animal rights group ‘Aurangabad Pet Lovers Association’ (APLA), the campaign aims to fit a minimum of 5,000 such collars, that are designed to bounce back headlight beams and protect community dogs.Stating that the campaign has already covered 200 stray dogs, APLA founder, Berryl Sanchis has appealed to citizens for active participation in the campaign.“Anyone can save the lives of 10 voiceless animals by donating just Rs300. We are striving to reach areas where help usually doesn’t arrive for the stray dogs. Many animal lovers wish to help but are unable to provide these collars due to financial constraints,” she said.Elaborating upon the benefit of radium collars, Sanchis said, “Dogs become visible from a distance at night, reducing the risk of accidents. These belts in turn ensure safety of drivers and citizens as well.”
