Canadian authorities have deported two Indian nationals in separate cases linked to alleged criminal activities, including extortion and other serious offences.

The two cases were handled by different police departments, and there is no official confirmation that the men were connected to each other.

In a press release issued on February 23, the Surrey Police Service (SPS) in British Columbia said that Lovebir Singh, 22, had been living in Canada since the autumn of 2023. He was identified by police in early 2026 and was suspected of involvement in extortion-related criminal activity.

Police shared information about him with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). Following an immigration investigation by CBSA, Singh was found inadmissible and was subsequently removed from Canada.

“SPS notified and shared information on the individual with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). As a result of their immigration investigation, Lovebir Singh was subsequently removed from Canada," the release stated.

In a separate case, Arshdeep Singh arrived in Canada as a student in August 2022. He was later living on a valid post-graduate work permit, due to expire in April 2026.

Arshdeep was arrested by Edmonton Police in November 2025 for shoplifting at West Edmonton Mall. However, investigators later alleged that the offence was part of wider criminal activity.

According to reports, he was suspected of being linked to a network involved in arson, shooting incidents, extortion, vehicle theft and insurance fraud.

CBC reported that Arshdeep was declared inadmissible to Canada last December. He did not challenge the deportation order, although he denied any wrongdoing. He was later deported.
