Cancer patient found dead in well

Kottayam: An elderly cancer patient was found dead with his wrist slit in a well near his neighbour’s house at Pallickal near Adoor on Thursday.The deceased was identified as Vasudevan, 65, of Juvel House, Kolamala, Pallickal. Police said he is suspected to have gone to his neighbour’s house around 2.30am on Thursday before jumping into a panchayat well near the property.

His body was recovered from the well early Thursday morning during a search launched after he was found missing.Police said Vasudevan was engaged in a long-running dispute with the neighbour over a boundary wall, which led to legal cases and frequent arguments between the two. Investigators believe this may have been a contributing factor. Visuals from a CCTV camera installed at the neighbour’s house are learnt to have captured Vasudevan at the location.He leaves behind wife Vijayamma and children Juvel Dev and Jwala.
