Car driver assaults PMPML bus driver in Bopdev Ghat

Pune: A PMPML bus driver was allegedly assaulted by a car driver in the Bopdev Ghat area around 6.30pm on Sunday after the bus reportedly brushed against the car.The bus driver, Ashok Pandurang Pawar (40), lodged a complaint with the Yevalewadi police later that night.

He told police that the bus was on its way to Saswad when it came into contact with a car.According to police, the car driver was enraged over the incident.“He allegedly overtook the bus and stopped his vehicle in front of it. He then hurled abuses at Pawar, dragged him out of the driver’s cabin, and assaulted him before fleeing the spot,” an officer from Yevalewadi police said.“Pawar further told us that the accused, who sped away towards Saswad after the assault, also grabbed and tore his uniform during the attack,” he said.Police are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the car’s registration number and trace the driver.
