Panaji: One person died and several others were injured when a speeding four-wheeler jumped the divider and entered the opposite carriageway of the Siridao flyover. According to a police complaint lodged at 9.15pm, Aditya Tilve, 22, a resident of Navelim, drove his four-wheeler in a rash and negligent manner while proceeding from Panaji towards Agasaim.
Tilve succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to GMC, Bambolim. When his four-wheeler jumped into the opposite lane, it hit a taxi and a two-wheeler, injuring all four occupants of these vehicles.Those who sustained injuries in the accident are the driver of the taxi, Nagraj Malgimani, 38, a resident of Corlim, the taxi’s passenger, Samir Kumar Dey, 36, a resident of Gujarat, and the rider of the two-wheeler, Faihan Saudagar, 21, a resident of Bhatkal, Karnataka, and his pillion rider and wife, Fatima Saman, 18.
Police said all are undergoing treatment in GMC’s casualty ward. “When Tilve reached the end point of the flyover, the driver veered onto the road divider and crossed over to the opposite lane, which leads from Agasaim to Panaji, where the car collided with an oncoming taxi and a two-wheeler,” said the police.
