Ahmedabad: A compound wall surrounding an under-construction residential project in Ahmedabad’s Satellite area collapsed on Monday morning, causing a parked car to plunge into the excavation pit for the basement.
The incident also damaged an RCC road and an underground drainage line, prompting the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to halt construction, issue a show-cause notice to the builder and initiate proceedings to suspend the project’s development permission. The collapse occurred at the residential project ‘Trinayang behind Star Bazaar in the Jodhpur ward. The project had received development permission from the AMC in 2025 for the construction of two basements, a ground floor and 10 upper floors.According to AMC officials, the compound wall gave way with a loud crash, causing the adjacent RCC road to cave in. A car parked next to the wall fell into the excavation pit created for the basement works. No injuries were reported in the incident.AMC deputy city engineer Sanjay Suthar said the collapse involved a diaphragm wall at the private construction site opposite Satellite Park. “The RCC road at the site and a nearby drainage line were damaged due to the collapse.
The road had been constructed three years ago,” he said.Following the incident, the civic body suspended all construction activities at the site and served a show-cause notice on the builder, seeking an explanation for the apparent negligence in constructing the compound wall.Suthar said the AMC suspended the project’s development permission. “The incident is under investigation, and further action will be taken based on the findings,” he said.
