The final came down to a close contest between Alvaro and Marat Safin, who currently works with Andrey Rublev. In the end, Alvaro just edged the win.
The result went viral on tennis social media, and many fans found the award amusing. Speaking about the situation during the tournament, the Spanish star admitted he had been following the voting closely.
"Of course I knew about it. You know, I was probably more nervous than my tournament here (smiling). Yeah, funny thing that a lot of players were, you know, watching it, were, you know, following the results. You know, happy that my brother took the Hottie Coach of the Year."
