Cockroach Janta Party to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar on 6 June, demanding Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resignation.
The satirical Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is set to hold its first major protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on June 6, with organisers issuing a detailed list of instructions for participants and calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged failures in India’s education system.
The protest has been organised by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, whose online campaign has gained traction among students and young people frustrated by examination-related controversies.
In a post on X, Dipke called on supporters to gather near Parliament Street Police Station, close to Jantar Mantar, at 9 a.m. on June 6.
“Time to turn this tiny joke into a revolution. Get ready to swarm the streets of Delhi with peaceful and loving dissent," the party said in its message to supporters.
The organisation also released a list of guidelines for demonstrators. Participants have been asked to carry the national flag and a book, symbolising support for education and equal opportunity. Protesters were encouraged to document the event peacefully, report any suspicious behaviour to the police and take precautions against the summer heat by carrying water, wearing caps and applying sunscreen.
The party also urged supporters not to attend alone if possible and encouraged them to come with friends and family. Protesters were advised not to engage with trolls or provocateurs and were reminded to eat before attending the demonstration.
In an unusual instruction, participants were asked not to throw flowers but instead hand them to police personnel as a gesture of appreciation.
The protest is being organised against what CJP describes as repeated failures in India’s education system, including controversies surrounding the NEET examination and concerns raised over recent CBSE results.
Dipke has alleged that more than one crore students have been let down by the system and left uncertain about their futures.
The June 6 demonstration will mark Dipke’s first visit to India since launching the satirical political outfit.
At a recent press conference held at the Constitution Club of India, party representatives said the protest would be open to people of all political backgrounds.
Investigative journalist Saurav Das, who has been named the party’s chief spokesperson, said the movement is focused on accountability in education rather than partisan politics.
“We have given an open call. Anybody can join us without a party banner. We are ready to have a dialogue with everybody, be it those in power or the Opposition," Das said.
The event comes amid growing online attention around the Cockroach Janta Party, which has used satire and social media campaigns to highlight issues affecting students and young job seekers. Organisers say the protest will remain peaceful and focused on demanding reforms and greater accountability in the education sector.
