A case has been registered against a 19-year-old man from Delhi after police identified him as the driver of the speeding Mahindra Thar that rammed into a car in Goa, killing a man.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the accused -- Apoorv Goyal, a resident of Delhi’s Hauz Khas -- was driving in a “rash and negligent manner, without proper care and caution, thereby endangering human life.”
Police said that upon reaching the accident spot, the teenager lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a Hyundai i20, resulting in the death of a 65-year-old occupant.
Locals, however, had claimed that after the accident, the man moved into the driver’s seat to shield one of the women who was allegedly driving the SUV at the time of the crash. Videos from the scene showed the man seated in the driver’s seat while women were seen sitting in the rear.
