A welfare programme speech by DMK MLA Anitha Radhakrishnan has landed him in legal trouble after he compared Chief Minister Vijay's Assembly demeanour to someone feeling trapped. The remarks, which also referenced Vijay's life before politics, triggered criticism and prompted a police complaint.

Case registered against DMK MLA over remarks mocking CM Vijay
Tamil Nadu police have registered a case against DMK MLA and former minister Anitha Radhakrishnan for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay at a public event. A case was registered based on a complaint filed over comments made at a welfare distribution programme held in Authoor on June 20.
The complaint relates to remarks in which Radhakrishnan is reported to have spoken about the Chief Minister’s appearance and mocked his move from cinema to politics. The comments, made during his speech at the event, drew criticism, after which police registered the case.
Referring to Vijay’s conduct in the Assembly, Radhakrishnan said, “Brother Austin (MLA) pointed his finger at CM and asked him, ‘Won’t you open your mouth and speak?’ He looked trapped. It was like, ‘How did I get stuck here? How happy I was at home with an actress. Now I’m trapped here.’”
He was referring to DMK MLA S Austin's confrontation with Vijay on the Assembly floor a few days earlier during a discussion on law and order in the state.
He further said, “I’m a merchant and I know when someone enters a shop whether he wants to buy something or borrow money. Similarly, I can realise how he felt trapped in the Assembly.”
Following the remarks made at the June 20 public meeting in Authoor, a complaint was lodged and Authoor police registered a case against the DMK MLA under two sections.
