Case against youth for assaulting minor girl

A 19-year-old labourer allegedly sexually assaulted an eight-year-old girl on the pretext of buying a kite in Guntur district, the police said on Sunday.

The issue came to light when the girl complained of pain to her mother on Friday. The minor’s mother filed a complaint with the police.

Based on the complaint, the police on Saturday registered a case against youth under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, Guntur Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal said, adding that the police launched a man hunt to nab the accused.
