The Kempegowda International Airport on Sunday received a fresh email threatening to blow up the airport, which later turned out to be a hoax, according to the officials.

Based on a complaint by the airport staff, the airport police on Monday registered an FIR against the user of [email protected] under Sections 125 (Endangering human life or personal safety), 351(4) (Criminal intimidation), and 353(1) (Making publishes or circulates any statement, false information, rumour, or report, including through electronic means) of BNS.

According to the complaint, the Airport Authority of India received a mail claiming that the KIA was under a terror attack and must be evacuated.

The police conducted a thorough check, and later confirmed it as hoax. Efforts are under way to track down the accused through the IP address.
