Cashless med treatment for home guards, kin

Lucknow: The cabinet cleared a proposal under which Home Guard volunteers serving in the UP Home Guards department and their family members will be eligible for cashless treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh annually, per family.In addition to this, proposals for increase in uniform-related allowances for employees of UP Police and various other govt departments were also cleared.Finance minister Suresh Khanna said the provision for cashless health services for Home Guards was announced by CM Yogi Adityanath on the occasion of Home Guards Day on Dec 6, 2025.In line with the CM’s announcement, Khanna said, the scheme was cleared for implementation on Monday.

Under this scheme, Home Guard volunteers, unpaid officers, and their dependent family members will be eligible for cashless in-patient treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year at govt hospitals and empanelled private hospitals listed under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.The annual premium of Rs 3,000 per volunteer and unpaid officer will be paid by govt. The estimated annual expenditure for the scheme is around Rs 35.50 crore.

Around 69,000 Home Guards and their dependent family members across the state are expected to benefit from the scheme.Recommendations of the chief secretary’s committee on the 2016 Pay Commission were also accepted by the cabinet. Under this, allowances for employees of the Home Department will be revised.An increase in allowance for uniforms, uniform renewal, and uniform washing for employees of subordinate courts under the justice department, the prison administration and reform department, the forest department, the excise department, the medical health and family welfare department, the medical education department, and the AYUSH department was also cleared.The implementation of these recommendations will result in an increase of approximately Rs 20 crore in the state government’s expenditure.
