The CBI has arraigned the parents of deceased Walayar girls in three more cases for abetting and instigating the alleged rape and sexual assault on them by the two deceased accused, Pradeep and Kutti Madhu.
The two were found dead by hanging years after being arraigned as accused in the cases.
On Wednesday, the agency filed two chargesheets against the parents at the CBI Special Court, Kochi, for abetting and facilitating Pradeep to repeatedly sexually assault their daughters. The CBI alleged in another chargesheet that the parents also facilitated sexual assault on the elder child by Kutti Madhu.
With the filing of the three chargesheets on the day, the parents have been made accused in all the nine cases booked in connection with the rape and sexual abuse of the minor girls. The CBI has completed the investigation and filed chargesheets in all the cases booked in connection with the Walayar case, said Pious Mathew, CBI Special Public Prosecutor.
The agency had earlier obtained permission from the CBI court to reopen and reinvestigate the cases involving the deceased accused. The court had abated the charges against the two deceased accused and removed them from the list of accused following their death, said Mr. Mathew.
In its earlier chargesheets, the CBI had alleged that the girls were “exposed to be raped and sexually assaulted” by the accused due to the “wilful negligence” of the parents. Some of the witnesses, who had worked with the mother had stated to the CBI that Madhu and Valiya Madhu used to consume liquor with the parents inside the makeshift home of the victims. “At times, they had sexual relationship with the mother “inside her one-room shed in the presence of the children,” according to the chargesheet.
Meanwhile, the Kerala High Court extended its order asking the CBI not to take any coercive steps against the parents and not to insist on their personal appearance before the agency till July 9. The court passed the order on petitions filed by the parents challenging the chargesheet filed by the CBI arraigning them as accused in the cases.
