CCP plans awareness drives to expand waste prog

Panaji: The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) will carry out awareness programmes, including in schools and colleges, on its 16-way waste segregation initiative to help expand it further.“The corporation will organise campaigns and workshops in schools and colleges. Children are the biggest advocates of issues. They are quick in learning and spreading the word,” said CCP commissioner Clen Madeira.The CCP plans to include the remaining 65 colonies in its 16-way waste segregation programme under the CITIIS 2.0 scheme of central govt. So far, 35 colonies of 100 are part of the programme.Panaji will receive Rs 90 crore as a project development fund to implement initiatives like waste segregation, said Madeira. “We are yet to have a meeting with Goa govt to discuss the specifics. Once we get a green light, we will begin the implementation,” said Madeira.
