Census’ Phase 1 schedule announced for Kerala

The schedule for the House Listing and Housing Census and the self-enumeration phase, which constitute Phase 1 of Census 2027, has been announced for Kerala. For Kerala, the period of self-enumeration by respondents will be from June 16 to June 30. Enumerators will carry out house visits for the House Listing and Housing Census from July 1 to July 30. Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India Mritunjay Kumar Narayan announced the national-level schedule for Census 2027 at a press conference in New Delhi on Monday.

In this phase, information regarding the condition of houses, amenities and assets of households will be collected. Population Enumeration, which constitutes Phase II of the Census 2027 exercise, will be held in February 2027. A ‘pre-test’ for the census was held in sample areas in Ernakulam, Idukki, and Palakkad districts in November last year.
