Government of India has sanctioned an Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) centre to National Sanskrit University in Tirupati. While the IKS Division, functioning under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Education, has sanctioned eight such centres to premier institutions across the country, the Tirupati-based NSU got a centre with special focus on “political, economic and strategic sciences, agricultural, veterinary and animal husbandry”.
Vice-Chancellor G.S.R. Krishnamurthi said that the university would strive to explore and throw light on traditional and ancient knowledge to get them on a par with the modern sciences.
Legal conclave
Meanwhile, Valmiki Research Centre on Ramayana (VRC), based at Ramanarayanam and affiliated to NSU, has announced a legal conclave based on Ramayana on September 20 at its Vizianagaram campus. Titled “Sri Ramayana Sankharavam”, the legal conclave on jurisprudence and constitutional ethics will bring together judges, academics, lawyers and law students to engage in a profound dialogue.
“The interdisciplinary conclave will explore how the moral and ethical teachings of Valmiki Ramayana intersect with constitutional values, such as justice, duty, fundamental rights and human dignity,” said VRC Director H. Lajipathi Rai, who is the former Vice-Chancellor of Ambedkar University.
Taking a leaf out of the Ramayana, the conclave will delve deep into topics like governance, jurisprudence, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and mediation, gender justice, morality and rights, human rights, ethics, modern law, leadership, policy and crisis management.
