Barely 24 hours after the Karnataka government constituted a high-level committee to probe the tiger deaths at the M.M. Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, the chairperson heading it has been changed.

In the original order issued by the Government on Thursday, June 26, B.P. Ravi, PCCF (Evaluation, Working Plan, Research and Training) was named as the chairperson of the committee heading the probe.

However, in a fresh communique issued on Friday, June 27, Kumar Pushkar, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Administration and Coordination), was named as the chairperson in place of Mr. Ravi. Authorities said that the latter wrote to the Government and sought to be excused from being part of the committee due to prior commitments.
