Chelsea Green’s love affair with Chelsea Football Club runs far deeper than just sharing a name.

The WWE star — the first-ever Women’s United States Champion and current AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champion — was a special guest at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, watching the Blues beat Brentford 2-0 from the Dugout Club as goals from Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer sealed the win.

But before kick-off, Green spoke about a connection to Chelsea that stretches back to childhood.

“I’ve been a Chelsea fan for life," she said. “My grandparents are British, my mum is British, and I lived in Devon when I was seven or eight. My family introduced me to football through Chelsea — even though my grandpa supported Aston Villa, so there was a little rivalry."

Chelsea colours were a constant growing up. So much so that one particular piece of merchandise became oddly symbolic.

“I always wore Chelsea gear. I even had a Chelsea beanie in my school safety kit," she laughed. “You know, the kit you have for emergencies — photos, granola bars, emotional attachments. Mine had a Chelsea beanie in it."

Watching the game live, Green couldn’t help but notice the atmosphere inside the Bridge — and how familiar it felt.

“There’s such a natural crossover between football and WWE," she explained. “The chants you guys have are incredible. They’ve actually made their way into wrestling now, and we love it. One of our favourite things about touring Europe is getting those football-style chants in our arenas."

For a performer who thrives off crowd energy, it’s a connection that makes perfect sense.

And as for blending her two worlds even more closely? Fans might not have to wait long.

“I actually tried to get Chelsea-themed ring gear made for this trip," Green revealed. “It didn’t arrive in time, which was such a shame. I really wanted to wear it."

She smiled before adding: “But don’t worry — I’ll definitely be representing Chelsea in the future."
