Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara spoke about the hours spent on players playing PlayStation during the tours. The 37-year-old revealed they used to do it for 2-3 hours on non-match days and has also revealed that his Saurashtra teammate Jaydev Unadkat attends professional tournaments, and Pujara also claimed that Unadkat did manage to win a few trophies as well.
“Abhi toh bohot kam but jab tours hote the saare players PlayStation khelne ke liye ready hote the. Din ke do teen ghante toh hum khel lete the. Match days pe nahi, non-match days pe. Do teen ghate toh kaha nikal jaate the pata hi nahi chalta tha (Not a lot now but on tours players would be ready to play PlayStation. We would play 2-3 hours a day. Not on match days but on non-match days. We would not realize how 2-3 hours would pass),” Pujara said speaking on an interview to Lallantop.
When asked who was the best. While Pujara did mention a few names, with the likes of MS Dhoni, Bhuvenshwar Kumar, Virat Kohli, and Wriddhiman Saha. Among the modern lot, he mentions Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill. “PlayStation mai bhi professional tournament organize hoti hai toh woh usme bhi participate karte hai aur usme bhi kayi baar trophy jeet ke aya hai woh (Jaydev Unadkat. There are professional tournaments organized in PlayStation and he would participate in those and has won trophies many times as well),” Pujara revealed about Unadkat.
Gambhir wanted Pujara
Pujara has not been in the Indian set up sine the World Test Championship in June 2023 which India lost to Australia. The batter could only manage 14 and 27 runs. However, with most of the Indian top order failing to spark to life during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, a player like Pujara, who has 993 runs from 11 games at an average of 47.28 in Australia, might have made a difference. It has been learnt that even after India won the 1st Test in Perth, Gambhir still talked about the 36-year-old Saurashtra batter.
