Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar school dropout blames former class teacher for failing him in Class IX, stabs him

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 17-year-old school dropout allegedly stabbed his former class teacher inside a convent school on Tuesday afternoon after accusing him (the teacher) of deliberately failing him in Class IX in 2023, despite the teacher having no role in teaching or evaluating the subjects in which the student had failed.Assistant inspector Vivek Jadhav, of Cantonment police station, said the teenager has been identified and efforts are on to catch him. “An FIR has been registered under relevant sections for attempt to murder and criminal intimidation. We are conducting further investigation,” Jadhav said.According to the FIR lodged by the school’s principal, the youth arrived at the school around noon seeking his transfer certificate (TC).

When informed that the certificate could be issued only after submission of a written application and clearance of pending dues, he allegedly refused to follow the procedure and insisted that he would pay the fees but would not submit an application.To explain the process, the principal called the boy’s former class teacher to the office. During the discussion, the boy allegedly accused the teacher of intentionally failing him in science and mathematics in Class IX, claiming he had lost an academic year because of the teacher.

However, the principal stated in her complaint that the teacher taught only Marathi and Hindi and had neither taught nor assessed the student in science and mathematics.The police said the youth allegedly threatened to kill the teacher before pulling out a knife and stabbing him in the abdomen. As the teacher collapsed bleeding, the principal raised an alarm and called other staff members. The accused allegedly brandished the knife at the staff, threatened them with dire consequences and prevented them from entering the office for some time, the police said.According to the FIR, the youth later emerged from the office, again threatened those present with the weapon and fled the school premises.The injured teacher was taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital by school staffers with the assistance of a parent. His condition is stable.
