Imagine you are going about your daily routine, and suddenly, water bursts out from under the ground like a mini-volcano. This nightmare became a reality for a resident in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, when a violent, high-pressure surge of muddy water tore through the veranda tiles.

As seen in the viral CCTV footage, the eruption was reportedly triggered by a pressure imbalance caused by heavy drilling on a neighbouring plot. The video, shared by users Sachin Gupta, shows a man walking in his house just before the floor crumbles and water surges upwards.

High-Pressure Underground Pipe Bursts Open

A gush of water erupted from a house in the Uslapur Gokuldham area, breaking through the floor and tiles. The incident occurred while the family was attending to daily chores, and thankfully, everyone escaped unharmed.

Sharing the CCTV footage on X, a user wrote, “Chhattisgarh | In Bilaspur, heavy machine boring work was going on in a plot. Due to high pressure, the boring pipe of the neighbouring house burst. The ground suddenly cracked open, and a powerful stream of water gushed out."

A video of the incident quickly went viral, sparking a wave of reactions across social media as users shared the dramatic CCTV clip of the water volcano. While some were stunned by the sheer power of the eruption, others questioned its authenticity, asking if the footage was real or a product of AI.

A user wrote, “Look at the engineering talent of Bilaspur. They dug in one plot, and the pipe of another one burst. This is what we call ‘digital connectivity’— work happening somewhere else, effect showing somewhere else!"

What Caused the Incident?

The likely cause of the water pipe burst is attributed to new boring work being done in a nearby plot, which led to an underground pressure imbalance. Geologists say that drilling near an existing boring can create pressure on underground water streams, potentially causing such incidents.
