Chhattisgarh set to vaccinate 36L children under National Pulse Polio drive

Raipur: The Chhattisgarh health and family welfare department has completed preparations for the National Pulse Polio Immunisation campaign on Sunday, with oral polio vaccine drops to be administered to 35,98,904 children up to five years of age across the state.More than 57,000 vaccinators have been deployed in 28,791 teams across 14,396 booths, and door-to-door follow-up will be carried out on June 29 and 30 for children who miss the booth day.Preparations have been completed in all 33 districts through task force meetings and coordination among departments. Training of healthcare workers and supervisors is over, and micro-plans, vaccine stocks, cold chain arrangements and logistics have been finalised.

The campaign will target children in remote villages, forest areas, urban slums, brick kilns, construction sites and migratory settlements.State immunisation officer Dr V R Bhagat said the campaign is fully ready. He appealed to parents to take children to booths and cooperate with visiting teams, saying every family’s participation is vital to preserve India’s polio-free status. The department has also urged parents to ensure every eligible child receives the drops.
