Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched development works worth ₹323.04 crore in Varuna Assembly constituency in Mysuru on Sunday.

Mr. Siddaramaiah, who represents the Varuna constituency in the Legislative Assembly, launched the works at a programme organised by the Mysuru district administration and Zilla Panchayat at Kupya village.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Siddaramaiah noted that three such programmes would be held for Varuna Assembly constituency during the ensuing term.

While works worth ₹501 crore were launched during a function in 2024, development projects worth ₹ 1,108 crore were launched during a programme held in 2025. If the works worth ₹323 crore launched on Sunday are also taken into account, a total of ₹1,932 crore worth of development works had been launched in Varuna assembly constituency alone, said Mr Siddaramaiah.

Though his government has spent ₹1,15,000 crore on the five guarantee schemes, equal emphasis is being given to development works as well, he said.

“In Mysuru district alone, development works worth ₹10,000 crore have been taken up,” he said, reaffirming that he remains committed to the district’s development.

Improving healthcare

The works launched on Sunday included laying the foundation stone for the construction of a hospital.

The hospital would be modelled on NIMHANS and De-addiction Centre at a cost of ₹100 crore, said Medical Education and Skill Development Minister Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, who was also present. He noted that Mr. Siddaramaiah’s efforts established a Jayadeva Hospital for cardiology and a district hospital in Mysuru, improving healthcare access for the poor.

Legislative Council member Yathindra Siddaramaiah highlighted ongoing development projects from the past and current year, stating that investments worth hundreds of crores demonstrate the government’s commitment to pro-people initiatives.

Minister In-charge of Mysuru district H.C. Mahadevappa, Higher Education Minister D. Sudhakar, State Guarantee Schemes Chairman H.M. Revanna, Legislative Council member D. Thimmaiah, K.R. Nagar MLA Ravishankar, Mysore Paints and Varnish Chairman Ganesh and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
