Children who suffered acid attack given interim relief of Rs 1 lakh each

Times News NetworkBarwani: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Barwani, has granted interim financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each to two children who survived a brutal acid attack allegedly carried out by their father in Rajpur police station area of the district.According to police, Vijay Chauhan allegedly hatched a conspiracy to kill his wife, Pinky, suspecting her character. On the intervening night of May 29 and 30, he threw acid on her. The acid also splashed onto their two children, causing injuries to them as well. Pinky succumbed to severe burn injuries, while both children suffered grievous burns that severely disfigured their faces. Vijay has been arrested in connection with the case.After the matter came to notice of principal district and sessions judge and DLSA chairman Mahendra Kumar Jain, he directed to expedite relief proceedings. Within 15 days, Atharv was sanctioned Rs 1 lakh under MP Crime Victim Compensation Scheme 2015, while Shivangi received Rs 1 lakh in interim assistance under the NALSA Scheme 2018.
