The Chittoor police have granted conditional permission for former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s scheduled visit to Bangarupalyam mandal headquarters on July 9, where he plans to interact with mango farmers.

Superintendent of Police V.N. Manikanta Chandolu said the restrictions were imposed in view of law and order issues witnessed during Mr. Jagan’s recent public appearances. The police received an application from former Putalapattu MLA Sunil Kumar, seeking approval for Mr. Jagan’s visit to the Bangarupalyam mango market. The event is expected to draw nearly 10,000 people, with the stated objective of gathering feedback from farmers on government initiatives.

After conducting a field inspection, the police cleared the event with several restrictions: only 30 people will be allowed at the helipad and in the convoy, while the gathering at the market yard is capped at 500. “This is not a public meeting. No rally or roadshow is permitted between the helipad and the market yard,” the SP clarified.

Referring to past violations during the former Chief Minister’s visits, The SP cited incidents at Raptadu, Podili, and Palnadu that led to serious crowd control issues, security breaches, and even a fatality. He said restrictions were imposed to ensure law and order is not disturbed.

Additional conditions include strict adherence to the event schedule due to the presence of a nearby school, installation of CCTV surveillance, and double-layer barricading at the helipad. The SP warned that any violation of the stipulated conditions—especially large gatherings or disruption of traffic—would attract legal action.
