Chris Paul’s second stint with the Los Angeles Clippers ends abruptly as the team parts ways with the legendary Clipper during his final NBA season.

Chris Paul’s second stint with the Los Angeles Clippers ended in about the strangest way imaginable — with the team sending him home in the middle of a road trip.
Late Tuesday night, Paul dropped the bombshell himself on Instagram.
“Just found out I’m being sent home," he wrote on his Story — reading exactly like someone who had just been blindsided himself, too.

By Wednesday morning, the Clippers made it official. The details? Still murky. The breakup energy? Very real.
“We are parting ways with Chris, and he will no longer be with the team," Clippers president Lawrence Frank said in a statement, via ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk.
Frank called Paul a “legendary Clipper" and acknowledged his impact.
“Chris is a legendary Clipper who had a historic career. I want to make one thing very clear. No one is blaming Chris for our underperformance. I accept responsibility for the record we have right now. There are a lot of reasons why we’ve struggled. We’re grateful for the impact Chris has made on the franchise."
This is Paul’s 21st and final NBA season, something he announced well before this drama. He returned to L.A. last offseason on a one-year, $3.6 million deal, calling the reunion a “no-brainer." It made sense: he’d spent six of his best seasons with the Clippers, helping turn “Lob City" into a legit era.
Now, that reunion has ended abruptly after just a few months.
Paul’s resume speaks for itself: 12-time All-Star, five-time assists leader, six-time steals leader, seven franchises, and one of the purest floor generals the sport has ever seen. Championships or not, his Hall of Fame ticket has been punched for years.
What comes next for CP3? The Clippers say they’ll “work with him" on the next step of his career. Wherever that is, Paul’s last season just took a dramatic, unexpected turn.
