Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani says people still love the ‘Munnabhai’ franchise because of the special friendship and bond between Munna and Circuit. He also gave fans good news, saying the third film in the franchise will definitely happen, but only when he develops a really good story idea.

Hirani first brought the world of Munnabhai to life with ‘Munnabhai MBBS’ in 2003, followed by ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’ in 2006. In both films, Sanjay Dutt played the lovable and good-hearted goon Munna, while Arshad Warsi played his funny and loyal friend Circuit.

Hirani recently reunited with Arshad for his upcoming series ‘Pritam and Pedro’. In a conversation with PTI, he opened up about the evolution of Circuit's character across the two films.

He spoke warmly about how Arshad brought the character to life in a way that went far beyond what was written on paper. He said, "Circuit was always there and he was a funny character, but obviously he (Arshad) brought so much life into it.

Then for the second one it became very important to make it stronger, and so you'll see Circuit in the second one has got more to do."The filmmaker added, "It's like Sherlock and Watson, whatever Sherlock wants to say he needs a friend to say that...

So, this character was written like if Munna has something say, there is a gang but he (Circuit) is his loyal friend. We had, in our heads, thought Circuit is like Hanuman, and he (Munna) is Ram for him. He won't ask questions, if Bhai has said it, he will do it, no questioning."
