Premier League giants Manchester City went down to Bodo/Glimt in a shocker of a contest in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday as Pep Guardiola and Co. went down to another defeat.
A Kasper Waarts Hogh double and Jens Petter Hauge netted for the Norwegian side against Guardiola’s City in a 3-1 decimation, as Rayan Cherki’s goal went in vain.
The defeat comes as a blow to City, as they slumped to their second defeat in as many games across competitions, on the back of their humiliating defeat to arch-rivals Manchester United in the Mancinian Derby during the weekend.
Hogh opened the scoring in the 22nd minute of the game, before doubling his side’s advantage two minutes laer as the Norwegian side took a two-goal lead into the half-time break.
Hauge piled further on Guardiola’s woes with his strike two minutes before the hour mark, before Cherki cut the arrears with his consolation strike.
Former Ballon d’Or winner, Rodri, who has been trying to find his feet this season on his return from injury, was given the marching orders in the 62nd minute making City’s evening further dull.
City stand seventh in the UCL table with 13 points from 7 assignments this season, while Bodo are placed 27th with six points and their first UCL win of the year comes against the mighty City.
Elsewhere, Arsenal romped to a 3-1 win over Italian league leaders Inter as a brace from Gabriel Jesus and another goal from Viktor Gyokeres for Mikel Arteta and Co. rendered Petar Sucic’s strike a mere consolation.
