A 15-year-old boy was electrocuted while playing badminton inside his residential society in Nallasopara, near Mumbai, on Friday evening. The victim, Akash Santosh Sahu, was a Class 10 student.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 7 pm when Akash was playing badminton with his friends in the society compound.

During the game, the shuttlecock got stuck near the window of a first-floor flat. Akash climbed up to retrieve it and was fatally electrocuted after coming into contact with a live wire connected to an air-conditioner unit near the window.

The entire incident was captured on the society’s CCTV camera. The footage reportedly shows Akash receiving a strong electric shock and collapsing on the spot.

The police have launched an investigation to determine how such a high-voltage current was exposed and who may be responsible for the fatal accident.

Officials are also examining the wiring of the air-conditioning unit to assess any negligence in electrical safety protocols.

Akash’s sudden death has left the local community in shock. Authorities are urging all residential complexes to review electrical safety measures to avoid such tragedies in the future.
