Class XII student assaulted by four youths in Thaltej for ‘looking at a girl’

Ahmedabad: An 18-year-old Class XII student was allegedly assaulted by four youths in Thaltej after they accused him of “looking at a girl”, prompting Bodakdev police to register an FIR on Monday.According to the complaint, the incident occurred on Sunday evening. The student, who studies at a school in Thaltej, had finished his tuition classes and was returning home when he crossed paths with a girl near Malai Talav. The two allegedly exchanged brief glances before he left the area.The complaint states that the girl questioned him about repeatedly passing through the locality, to which he replied that he was minding his own business.

Police said the exchange apparently reached a group of local youths, who allegedly took offence and decided to confront him.Later, the student allegedly received a phone call asking him to come to a spot near Bhai Kaka Nagar in Thaltej. When he reached there around 6.30pm, four youths confronted him and questioned him about looking at the girl.According to the FIR, the argument soon turned violent. Two of the youths allegedly slapped him, while another attacked him with a pipe, injuring his left hand and back.

A fourth youth allegedly beat him with a wooden cot leg, causing injuries to his thighs, knees and legs.The complainant told police that he collapsed after the assault and briefly lost consciousness. The accused allegedly fled the spot. He later returned home and informed his father, who rushed him to Sola Civil Hospital.Based on the complaint, Bodakdev police registered a case of assault and causing hurt.
