Claude faced a brief disruption on Monday (April 13) evening as a “major outage” hit the platform. Anthropic has since confirmed that the issues have been resolved, following a string of reports involving login errors and connection problems.
Users trying to access the service were met with persistent errors. Anthropic’s official status page acknowledged the situation at 9:28 pm IST (15:58 UTC), stating, “We are continuing to investigate elevated errors on Claude.ai, primarily affecting login.”
Which Anthropic Claude tools were affected
According to the tracking site DownDetector, reports of the outage spiked around 9:04 p.m., with hundreds of users flagging issues. About 67% of users reported issues with Claude Code, 14% experienced difficulties with the Claude API, and 13% struggled with the standard Claude Chat interface.Anthropic confirmed that the “incident affected: claude.ai, platform.claude.com (formerly console.anthropic.com), Claude API (api.anthropic.com), Claude Code, Claude Cowork, and Claude for Government.”“We have identified the issue affecting Claude.ai and Claude Code logins. We are working to apply a fix for this issue, and will provide an additional update as soon as possible,” the company said on the outage status page.
The disruption, however, was short-lived and by 9:24 p.m., the number of error reports had dropped significantly, and the company moved quickly to restore full access to its suite of tools.“We have resolved the issue resulting in elevated errors on login for Claude.ai and Claude Code between 15:31 to 16:19 UTC,” it added.
Second major Claude outage in a week
This is second major outage that Anthropic’s Claude has experienced. Last week on Tuesday (April 7), Anthropic’s popular chatbot and Claude Code tool weren’t working for many users. At that time as well, Claude’s system status page listed a “major outage” for the Claude website and Claude Code.
