Dhami on Saturday marked five years in office by laying the foundation stone of 51 development projects worth Rs 219 crore for Dehradun
Dehradun: Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday marked five years in office by laying the foundation stone of 51 development projects worth Rs 219 crore for Dehradun at an event in Rishikesh attended by governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (retd). Dhami said the occasion was “not meant for celebration but to review the government’s work and renew its commitment to public service.
”He said that five years ago, he was given the opportunity to serve “Devbhoomi” and that the state’s journey of development was continuing with a focus on public service and good governance. Dhami said the government’s goal is to make Uttarakhand a developed state by 2035, with priority being given to infrastructure, education, healthcare, drinking water, roads, agriculture, tourism, industry, investment, self-employment and development of border areas. The chief minister said more than 2.65 lakh women had become self-reliant under the Lakhpati Didi Yojana. “Growth in the state’s GSDP, an increase in per capita income, a budget exceeding Rs 1 lakh crore, the establishment of new industries and the rising number of startups reflect Uttarakhand’s progress,” he said.During the event, Dhami and the governor launched the week-long ‘Seva, Sushasan evam Samarpan: Jan-Jan ki Sarkar, Jan-Jan ke Dwar’ campaign, under which programmes will be held in cities and villages to address public grievances.
The governor said the campaign reflected the government’s commitment to public service. “The real success of democracy lies in ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach every citizen at the last mile with dignity, sensitivity, transparency and timeliness,” he said.Singh said the state had taken several major decisions in recent years under Dhami’s leadership. “Uttarakhand became the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), which has strengthened the spirit of equality, justice and social harmony. Decisions such as a strong anti-copying law to protect the interests of youth, strict legal provisions against forced religious conversion and those damaging public property, and an effective land law reflect the state’s commitment to public interest and good governance,” he added.
