CM promises funds release in pending Laadli Laxmi cases

Porvorim: Women and child development minister, Vishwajit Rane, said a meeting will be called this week itself to resolve issues. He also said all cases pending for over a year will be cleared on priority.

“Due to documents not being complete, files have been kept aside by officers. Sometimes, once files are kept aside, they remain there. I don’t deny that this doesn’t happen,” said Sawant.Priol MLA Govind Gaude said the Laadli Laxmi scheme, where funds of Rs 1 lakh for marriage and education are provided to families, was a huge relief to many families, but that some cases have been pending for over 10 years due to issues like different spellings of names in certificates.

He also said officials in departments like social welfare, tribal welfare, and women and child development need to be more considerate as they are working in the welfare sector._____________________________Bill to restructure infrastructure tax payment tabledPorvorim: The Goa Tax on Infrastructure (Amendment) Bill, 2025, aimed at easing the financial burden on developers and property owners, was tabled in the House on Thursday.

The bill, introduced by town and country planning minister Vishwajit Rane, proposes to split infrastructure tax payments into two equal installments of 50% each. Under the new structure, developers will pay the first installment when obtaining technical clearance or development permission, and the remaining 50% upon receiving the completion certificate.Currently, the entire infrastructure tax must be paid upfront during construction plan approval or licence issuance.
