CM Punk flexes his perfect relationship with wife AJ Lee to rule out a joint return

AJ Lee might return to a huge pop but not alongside her husband, as ever. It's high time to quit that hope, folks. The on-screen rivals-turned-the hottest real-life couple are now bound to some self-inflicted rules.

Yes, social media says couples who work out together stay together. But those online hashtags couldn't really convince the Straight Edge Superstar. He writes his own and lives by it straight. No twists, no curves. And a joint screen return doesn't come under that rulebook. WWE Universe is hyping up the much-anticipated AJ Lee return for months. Kee, back in 2015, had her last dance in the squared circle. While primarily, she took the decision to put her career on a halt for some recurring neck and back issues, with time, she got yoked in her off-screen life more and more..

CM Punk rules out a ring-sharing fantasy with AJ Lee

Currently, Punk's lady luck is wearing multiple hats. She has ventured into other mediums and seems to enjoy that thoroughly. Lee cropped up in Sacramento, a new movie starring Michael Cera and Kristen Stewart. She has also co-written a few comic books and tried her hand a little into screenwriting. No, a WWE return isn't really off the chart yet, but it's not in the priority list, either.Punk, 46, on top, has a legit issue working alongside Lee in the ring. And WWE is an even place. If Lee returns, she will come across her husband sooner or later. In a recent interview with TV Insider, Punk said he loves to keep his work and love life separate for the sake of a happy and balanced life. ''There are really two things that my wife and I don’t do together. One is to work out and the other is to work together. It’s really the perfect relationship,'' said the 7 time world champion.

Well, that makes some sense. Especially, the way Punk and Lee manage to keep their marriage healthy amidst the eye- eye-threatening flashes of lights, camera and action, their relationship philosophy speaks volumes. But can Lee make a solo return at some point? Well, that's, too, nothing but a flippant script.

AJ Lee's WWE return seems a bit too far-fetched

In wrestling, retirement is a myth. From John Cena, Dwayne Johnson, to Bill Goldberg, the legends hung up their shoes multiple times and laced them up again.

Be it the profound love for sports, the pop culture, that adrenaline attached to the fans cheering, or anything else, they couldn't stay away from the ring for a long time. But for Lee, the stage seems a bit different. Ever since Punk returned to the lore at the 2023 Survivor Series, fans kept bothering him about his wife's return. Without any sugarcoating, the Second City of the Saint mentioned several times that Lee is really tied up with her other commitments, and a return is all but an idea to bank on.

But people still kept hoping and paid the price. They returned with a heavy heart from the Royal Rumble 2025, where they largely deemed Lee a potential surprise entrant.

Ahead of the Evolution second edition, WWE reignited that flame of hope, posting some random photos and clips of AJ Lee on their official YouTube channel. But history repeated itself. Lee didn't show up, and neither will she ever. ''Wrestling opportunities have popped up over the years, and I've just never been ready for that. I'm not sure, like, physically, whether that fire is there,'' the former Divas Champion spoke her heart out in an old interview. It's not rocket science to understand she's not really up for a return. The cervical issues are really bad, and the lack of confidence due to the long break is a bonus to substantiate. But regardless, CM Punk and AJ Lee will go strong, hand in hand, making the world stop and stare. Also read: “It ain’t over!”: WWE star R-Truth drops major hint about another potential match with John Cena | WWE News - Times of India
