Prayagraj: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday reviewed the progress of key road and bridge infrastructure projects in the Prayagraj division and directed officials to ensure the timely completion of all works without compromising on quality or safety.The review meeting, held at the Mela Office auditorium in Prayagraj, was attended by public representatives and senior officials of the PWD, the Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation and the state govt. Principal secretary, PWD, the chief engineer, PWD, MD of the Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation Dharmveer Singh and other senior engineers were present.Following the review meeting, the MD of the Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation inspected the under-construction rail overbridge (ROB) at the railway level crossing on the GT Road–Khusro Bagh–Lukerganj route near Pani Tanki.
The new ROB is being constructed after the demolition of the old British-era bridge, which had developed structural defects. Officials were instructed to ensure foolproof safety measures during both demolition and construction, maintain proper barricading and green netting, and facilitate the smooth movement of traffic on the adjoining bridge.The inspection found that piling work for the new ROB was progressing as scheduled.
Officials were directed to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe while strictly adhering to all safety norms, particularly as the construction is being carried out in a densely populated urban area.The team also inspected the site of the newly sanctioned long-span bridge over the Ganga, which will connect Salori, Hetapatti and Jhunsi. With the construction contract already awarded, pre-construction activities are underway.
Officials were asked to thoroughly review the bridge design, adopt the latest engineering technologies and expedite execution.The CM also directed that all major infrastructure projects undergo third-party quality testing by IITs and NABL-accredited laboratories. Stressing that there would be no compromise on construction quality or public safety, he instructed officials to maintain the highest standards while ensuring that all projects are completed within the prescribed timeline.
