Raipur: Chhattisgarh has pitched for an All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), with chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai urging Union home minister Amit Shah to allocate one of the three new institutes announced in the Union Budget 2026 to the state.Sai met Shah at Kartavya Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday, accompanied by deputy chief minister Vijay Sharma, and discussed the proposal along with the state’s development priorities, including infrastructure and welfare initiatives in Bastar.The chief minister said Chhattisgarh’s vast forest cover, rich repository of medicinal plants and traditional tribal knowledge made it a suitable location for a national institute dedicated to Ayurveda. Sai said the institute would help the state generate employment.Shah assured the Centre’s continued support for Chhattisgarh’s infrastructure and public welfare programmes, said an official statement.
