Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah summoned to Delhi on May 26 as Congress high command reviews state leadership, power sharing with D K Shivakumar and a possible cabinet reshuffle

Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah has been called to Delhi on May 26 for a meeting with the Congress high command amid renewed speculation over a leadership change in the state.

The development comes as talks of a power-sharing arrangement between Siddaramaiah and deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar have resurfaced after the Congress government completed three years in office.

According to reports, the Congress leadership is expected to discuss issues related to the Karnataka government, including a possible cabinet reshuffle and the ongoing tussle between the two camps.

Siddaramaiah had earlier said he would visit Delhi only if called by the party high command. Shivakumar, meanwhile, recently said both leaders would abide by any decision taken by the Congress leadership.

Speculation over a leadership change has intensified in recent weeks after supporters of Shivakumar renewed their demand for him to be made chief minister.

Earlier, Shivakumar’s birthday celebrations in Mysuru took a political turn after supporters had cut a cake carrying the message “Next CM DK Boss."

Across Bengaluru, Belagavi and several other parts of Karnataka, Shivakumar supporters put up banners and large cut-outs wishing him on his birthday, with many carrying the slogan “Next CM DKS."

While officially framed as birthday wishes by supporters, the public messaging revived political chatter around the long-discussed power-sharing arrangement between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar – an issue that has lingered ever since the Congress returned to power in Karnataka in 2023.
