Even as the ‘Srirama Navami’ Brahmotsavams and the State-sponsored ‘Sita Rama Kalyanam’ are just a few days away, officials of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and the Kadapa district administration held a crucial coordination meeting on Monday to ensure the smooth conduct of the festivities.
The meeting gained significance in view of the scheduled arrival of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who will offer ‘Pattu Vastrams’ on behalf of the State government to the deities during the ‘Sita Rama Kalyanam’ on April 1.
Kadapa district Collector Sridhar Cherukuri, TTD’s Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, Joint Executive Officer V. Veerabrahmam, Chief Vigilance & Security Officer K. V. Muralikrishna and Kadapa Superintendent of Police Nachiket Vishwanath Shelke participated in the joint coordination meeting held at the TTD’s guest house in Vontimitta, where special focus was laid on providing better amenities to the visiting crowd.
Mr. Sridhar said the line departments should work with a comprehensive action plan covering security, parking arrangements, distribution of annaprasadam, makeshift toilets, uninterrupted power supply, first-aid centres, APSRTC bus services, help desks, signboards, sanitation and public address systems.
Mr. Chowdary instructed officials to take up special decorations reflecting Telugu culture and tradition during the Kodandarama Swamy Brahmotsavams. He said the electrical and floral decorations should be attractive enough to captivate the attention of visiting devotees.
In view of the peak summer season, the officials decided to arrange water sprinkling near the ‘Kalyana Vedika’ the venue of the divine wedding of Rama and Sita to protect devotees from sunstroke.
